Steering Column Repair: Steering Column Wont release, holden commadore, steering column

Question
Hi
My other half has a VN Holden Commadore and we are having problems replacing the Steering column.  When he removed it to see what was wront with it he had to slightly hammer the Steering wheel to release the wheel off and in doing this its made the Steering Column a little shorter.  Are you able to advise the best possible way to bring it back to normal.

Cheers

Answer
Hi Heather:
It sounds like he collapsed the steering column.  This is not good.  They are made to collapse during an accident so you don't get impaled, but once it's collapsed, most often, you need to replace the column.  (Sometimes) they can be pulled back tot he proper length, but I'm not sure on this particular model
I hope this helped you (a little)
