Steering Column Repair: Steering column/ignition locked up, chevy s10 pickup, s10 pickup

Question
I have a 1997 chevy S10 pickup.  The steering wheel is locked up and the ignition (key) will not turn in any direction.  The truck has a remote starter and will start, but still can not turn the ignition switch.  Any suggestions?

Answer
You will need to remove and replace the key lock assembly. In order to remove it, you'll need to disassemble the column past the turn signal and multi-function switches. There will be a torx screw at the bottom part of the lock hole. If you find no screw, then look for a hole for the notch to clip. It will also be located toward the bottom of the key lock hole.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
