Steering Column Repair: 1986 Ford Bronco Steering Column, ford bronco xlt, ford bronco

Question
Our 1986 full-sized Ford Bronco XLT has a metal part in the TILT
steering column that's broken/sheered off. It's a rod/stabilizer type
piece that holds/secures the ignition actuator in place when the
key is turned. Don't know what the piece is or how to get a
replacement for it without getting an entire used column. Also
don't have the right tool to take it off so we can take it to a dealer/parts
store to show them what we need. Please help.

Thanks Rob!

Answer
Hello,

Without seeing it, I don't have any idea of what you are referring to.
Here is our  problem with new. Ford has a tendency of making component changes every six months. It is common to find parts discontinued after 5 years or even less.
If this part has an effect on starting,I would suggest a junk yard column because it is more cost effective. You shouldn't have to pay over $100 and it is not a big deal to change.
