Subaru Repair: 1999 Outback shakes when starting when it is in the rain, Subar runs rough

Question
The other day it was raining out, i went to start my car and it shook and
jolted while it was in park. I then revved the engine a little to see if it would
still do it and it kept shaking. I put it in reverse to see what would happen if i
just drove it around the parking lot maybe to dry something off under the
hood or under the car that may have gotten wet somehow, and the car would
go up to 3000 rpms while i was only going aprx. 15mph. The check engine
light eventually came on, and i parked the car and let it sit for a day. I went
back to it yesterday when it was no longer raining, started it and it still
shook, but once i revved it a few times it stopped, and now it seems that
there isnt a problem anymore. What could be causing this?

Answer
Sid,

There are a lot of potential causes more than I can list.

It could be a corroded coil, and or ignition wire, it could be a mass air flow sensor, it could be one or more of the spark plugs was wet with fuel and once it was burnt away it was fine.

There is a limit to how I can help you over the Internet.

I would have someone familiar with Subaru take a look at it locally.
