Subaru Repair: Intense shuddering, violent shaking?!?, subaru impreza, front end alignment

Question
First and foremost, thank you for your time in this matter as it is something that is causing a tremendous headache. I own a 1995 subaru impreza special edition(4 door) with 128,000 miles. The car is an automatic, was bought used almost 3000 miles ago and is a 4 cylinder 2.2 liter engine. My question is this. Twice over the last 4 weeks I have experienced violent shaking and shuddering of the car at speeds over 60 mph. It feels as if I have a flat tire, however, when I stop the car or slow down the problem goes away. I have also noticed there is shuddering, vibration at lesser speeds, but nothing to the extent that I felt recently in the above incidents. After doing some research, the only thing I can discover is that it might be a problem with the AWD (all wheel drive), specifically "torque bind" or some sort of celliniod problem. Aside from that I am at a lose as to what the issue is. I have not taken the car to a mechanic of any sort at all. This is my first all wheel drive vehicle and I am starting to get the nagging feeling that this is going to cost an arm and a leg. As far as any other info that might help; I have gotten a front end alignment done on the vehicle (problems happened both before and after, tires appear to be uneven but of the same type (roadware), brakes are fine, as is the transmission fluid. Thank you once again for your time and answer.

Sincerely,

Mr. I have no clue whats wrong with my subaru.

Answer
It doesn't sound the the AWD binding. That usually only happens when turning sharp you'll fee it shudder and bind. It sounds more like either a bad tire, or possible bad axle shaft. It's hard to tell without road testing it myself, but those are the two I would suspect the most from your description. I hope this helps.
