Subaru Repair: ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT, drive auto, engine control module

QUESTION: MY CAR HAS BEEN TO A SUBARU GARAGE SEVERAL TIMES NOW AND THE PROBLEM STILL HASNT BEEN SOLVED. THEY TELL ME THE PROBLEM WAS THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE REPLACED IT BUT EVERY TIME I GET THE CAR BACK WITHIN A DAY OR TWO THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON? IT HAS BEEN TO THE SUBARU GARAGE 4 TIMES NOW AND THE LIGHT STILL COMES BACK ON. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE? OR HAVE YOU HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS TO DEAL WITH BEFORE? THE CAR IS AN IMPREZA 2.0L SPORT 03 PLATE. THANKS.

ANSWER: If you can tell me which code is set i can probally lead you to some possible causes.

QUESTION: i dont know the code. they havnt said anything about that. the car itself still runs ok it just seems to take a while before the engine idles properly, like when i stop at a junction

There is no information i can give you about a check engine light with out knowing the fault code set.The light is coming on because the ECM(engine control module)has seen a failure of a component or a condition that is out of range and is commanding on the check engine light.Im sorry you are having trouble getting it fixed but it is fixable.
