Subaru Repair: clutch, clutch disc, manual shift

Question
my clutch doesn't engage till the peadle is almost all the way out should i have it replaced now i've already had it adjusted and they told me it couldn't be again i have 70,000 miles and have had a daughter learn how to drive on it

Answer
I think this is one of those pay me now, or pay me later things. If you do it now, you may save damage to the flywheel, which could get pricey. I would replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing. Also, if the rear separator cover on the back of the motor is plastic, I would replace it with an updated metal one. And when the clutch is out, don't be too suprised if the pressure plate is the problem, which may mean your daughter didn't do it! I do think it is great you had her learn to drive a manual shift. I have had several guys and girls who cant park a customers car because there parents never made them learn. Way to go!  Z
