Subaru Repair: timing, wrx impreza, motor valve

Question
i hit a deer with my 2002 wrx impreza and now it has a loud clicking sound when i start it. i think it might of went out of time and bent a valve.but i dont know.

I have seen a Subaru engine jump time when it has been hit hard on one side - but usually there is damage to that side of the motor - valve cover broken, front timing cover...something like that. Not sure what you have going on, but I would suggest getting it to a Subaru expert as soon as possible if you dont feel doing some diagnostic tear down. If you do feel like tackling this one, let me know what external damage you have, and what you feel comfortable trying, and I will try to walk you through whatever you need to do.  Z
