Subaru Repair: 98 subaru forester L 5-speed, subaru forester, positive cable

Question
I just bought suby-130,000 mi. Changed oil,mobile one 10/30
and new air(K&N), fuel, and oil filter.  Cleaned battery posts, fairly corroded.  Positive cable is a little loose.
Problem is the check engine light comes on, and will not go off.  Car seems to run ok however.  Light did not come on before.

Answer
Sometimes the non-Subaru air filters cause a problem. I would try to put an original Subaru air filter in since we have seen some problems with the aftermarket versions. But, before you spend money replacing the one you just put in, have someone read the codes for you. Around here, Advance and Autozone will read the code for you for free. Once you get the code try me back and we should be able to get to the bottom of your problem.

Also, how is the car running? If it has no running problem, don't put off getting the code read, but also, don't worry about it too much either.
