Subaru Repair: A/C Compressor, subaru legacy wagon, greg duggan

Question
I have a '90 Subaru Legacy Wagon in need of an A/C compressor. I have located one via internet sales,a Calsonic CK BUILT, but have been told that the Legacy uses one of two non-interchangeable compressors. My VIN
is JF1BJ632XLK912509.  Is there a resource
that can tell me the required compressor for my car?  Thank you very much.    Ray

Answer
Ray,
There is a resource that can be checked, but i do not have access to it from my home computer. If you call your local subaru dealership they can run your vin# into their database and tell you what compressor your car came with from the factory. It is also usefull to note that there are several different types of pag oil that subaru uses in their ac systems, and use of the right one is very important. When you remove your old compresser drain the old oi1 into a measuring cup. Add that exact amount of new oil to your new compressor.
Hope this info helps.

PS. Have your vehicles birthdate handy when calling the info in. it is located on drivers door jam.
