Towing Issues: Maine police impound storage fees, storage fees, vehicle subject

Question
Is there a limit on storage fees a Maine tow facility may charge a vehicle owner for storing a vehicle subject to police impound due to ongoing investigation of criminal charges against the operator of the *other* vehicle involved in a two-vehicle accident?

Answer
Many cities have contracts with the Police departments that they tow for, and I hate to say it but its hard to find those rates without physical trips to that area.

Now if the vehicle is involved in an investigation then you will kind of be at the mercy of the investigators. But your insurance company should be able to help you with this as its in their interest to keep the expenses and liability of their claims...

That means they do not want to pay anything that they can get out of. You need to keep on them about the claim (if you have the coverage)...

And since this is a criminal investigation, I hope you have an attorney involved as this sounds as if it is complicated.

I wish I could help more, but this is one of those areas where its hard to get answers and provide answers that will help with legal issues.
