Towing Issues: Towing a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, jeep wrangler, dinghy towing

Question
Help!  I am very confused as to the best way to tow a Jeep Wrangler.  Several sites have advised against using a tow dolly and recommended a tow bar, others have done the opposite.  I will be towing a long distance, and want to be sure I tow correctly and without damage.  Can I use a tow dolly?  If so, is there anything I need to do to prep the Jeep beyond putting it into neutral once it is on the dolly and ready to go?

Answer
As you can tell by the different answers you have gotten from different web sites, there are varied opinions about Dinghy Towing. I specialize in wrecker related towing issues and not dinghy or dolly towing. If I were going to tow this jeep I would put it on a roll back or trailer. That being said, if the vehicle is a straight shift you can pull the vehicle with the front wheels on a dolly and the rear wheels on the ground and the transmission in neutral.
