Towing Issues: 1996 ford aerostar, ford aerostar van, auto repossession

Question
I have a 96 ford aerostar van that is rear wheel drive, i need to put a hitch on it to use a tow dolly to cars with.  My question is, can this van pull a vehicle on a tow dolly and burn itself up in the process?  its well maintained and runs real good, I do auto repossession and the doctor took me out of the truck for medical reasons and now all I have left is my tow dolly to use to pick cars that people don't want anymore and I just go get them, and tow them to my impound yard, think this van can do this?   thank you for your time

Answer
If you are in the repo business then I know you are familiar with towing cars. I specialize in wrecker related towing issues and yes, repo issues. I am familiar with a Ford Aerostar  but I do not know what the towing capacity would be. As for a tow dolly that will decrease the amount of tongue weight, but most Aerostars that I have seen I would not trust to be able to tow (and stop) vehicles on a tow dolly. I would recommend contacting the local dealership or your owners manual. If it were me I would get a pick up truck.
