Towing Issues: ATV Swivel Wheel Carrier, wheel carriers, wheel carrier

Question
I am interested in purchasing a ATV carrier to connect to rear of my 29ft. 5th. Wheel RV.

Looking into a swivel wheel carrier having a single wheel in center of ATV platform.  There are two male stems attached to the platform that connect to two hitch receivers mounted on rear the RV.

Do you know of any towing issues and/or mechanical problems with these swivel wheel carriers.

Answer
I haven't seen one in person but have seen ad's for them. My suggestion is contacting your trailer manufacture first to avoid any potential warranty concerns. If it's still under warranty. As for mechanical concerns it seems pretty straight forward which takes some weight off the hitch. Does the wheel have enough travel to compensate for the up and down action going in parking lots? If not it will bind the hitch or does the hitch pivot? You don't want to bind the hitch which is attached to your trailer frame! As I have said haven't seen one in person and don't know of anybody that has one. As for towing concerns, DOT laws come to mind. Depending on the officer and the interpretation of the law, or how well it's interpreted could cause problems. A DOT officer could enforce the load extends too far behind your trailer or the combination is a trailer towing a trailer which is illegal in some states. The trailer towing a trailer scenario could be valid because it's coupled together. Then again it's how well it's interpreted. Good luck and I suggest some RV forums for more research.
