Towing Issues: co-worker towed my car, morning crew, co worker

My car broke down at my work on wed. night,  and my co-worker had it towed the next morning! I had left a note in the office to let the morning crew know i would be back Friday morning to move it . did she have any legal right to have it towed?

Also is the co-worker legally able to order up a tow and authorize it. Are they the property owner, manager or designated agent?

Based on the very limited information it does not sound legal to me, but then there are a ton of different laws all over the US, which are governing this kind of issue. What is legal in San Diego, might not be legal in Denver, Chicago or Miami.
