Towing Issues: My House Guest parking concern, level apartment, house guest

Question
First, I live in CT.  3 or 4 times a year, I visit my daughter %26 Husband living in NY and recently did so. I leave early Saturday morning and return Sunday in the evening hours.  As I prefer not to travel alone, my son-in-laws Mother travel's with me. Her car is parked in my backyard, where my car would be, until we return. The landlord has been fixing the 2nd level apartment for renting and asked me about the blue car "always" parked out back. My car should be the only car back there. For the life of me, I didn't know what car he was talking about.  I told him so. He informs me that the next time it's there, he'll have it towed, adding that it looks as if someone lived in that car. I was very concerned. I live with my granddaughter and never noticed that car overnite.  After giving it lots of thoughts, it came to me, it's the Mother-in- law's car.  (And it is full of stuff. It's never there over night when I'm home.) I have contacted landlord, letting him know who's car he was asking me about. But all this has made me wonder.  In CT, can a home owner have a car towed with one phone call.  What could have happened if we never had this discussion.  What if Mother-in-law and I left for, let's say, a week.  Can landlord have had that car towed?  It's registered, but a plate can be removed easy enough. And if so, could my house guest get reimbursed for expenses, once it's been proven that she had my permission to park there. thanks for your time on this...

Answer
If I understand correctly, the car did not get towed, which is good. Unless your contract or lease prohibits you from having another vehicle parked in your driveway it does not matter who parks in your parking space if you are not there. As far as they know you could be driving the vehicle. Since you have advised the landlord you should not have any problems. I would make sure he understands that the car is only there while the two of you are gone and is not there when you are home except for when she visits.
