Towing Issues: my car towed in my complex, tow truck drivers, fire hydrant

Question
hi, I hope you can give me some good advice here.  I am sooo frustrated, way
to busy to deal with the headache it brings, and not rolling in the dough these
days either to play this stupid power tripping game with an 8 dollar an hour
security guard &  hard nosed tow driver & rich tow company. I have a
residence sticker displayed on my vehicle like I am suppose to.  the spot
marked with my address (1 spot besides my way tiny-short driveway)on curb
is directly behind a yellow fire hydrant.  And not 25 ft from the fire hydrant
either.  it's a 15 ft space I get that's between my driveway and the hydrant.
okay.......sooo  any cop coming into the neighborhood loves to see if I'm
using that space that day so they can ticket me on their way back out.  not a
cheap ticket either. The complex has allot of visitor parking spaces.  The curb
along the pool area is for visitors.  Yesterday was mother's day.  the
neighborhood was very busy with guests.  My son from out of town parked in
my 1 curb space and my son who lives with me parked when getting off work
then in one of the visitor spaces but had the residence sticker like I said in
the window.  three times previously he has had to fight tow truck drivers in
the middle of the night to not hook his car up and tow it.  once right in our
own marked space, twice in visitor parking.  We really thought the security
guard who patrols the four blocks in our complex after a year now and
personal meetings as described @ 2, 3, 4 am previously with security guard
in attendance as we are trying to reason with tow truck driver as to why he
shouldn't harass us like this over parking our car with sticker in our spot or
in complex we live in....yes, he has to know which car's are parked every
night and current residents.  especially the vehicles at my house.  We all have
nice, always clean vehicles.

so this morning my son goes to leave for school and no car!  the home
owner's I guess made it like this.  not all of us were aware of this vote.  i
know i have to go to meeting with HOA  to get changed.  but in the mean
time I have to take my son, pay money to get our car released.  and it will be
well over 100 $.  150 actually.  This isn't kind at all.  what legal grounds do
I have to get money refunded me for taking my car?  and any California law I
can toss around abound about proper notice, harassment of tenants,  amount
of days a car has to be parked before towable.  It has to be bogus this rule
not able to withstand any laws on residence parking anywhere in their own
complex unless clearly marked for another resident.  I mean is this security
guard in with the tow company?  it seems maybe it could be true!  it isn't
right.  and I am ready to sell and move.

thank you for your help in this matter

Answer
Without writing an essay my best suggestion is starting a paper trail, photographs, video and audio if possible. There is a right way and wrong way for collecting information so have some tact. I'm sure you have plenty of receipts, start getting names, dates, times and any and everything else you or your son's can find. Should you decide legal means you would need all this information and be well organized and documented for a great presentation. If nobody wants to help, explain or resolve the parking problem your options are limited but don't jump to a civil action right away. After collecting your information present it to the HOA first or management company. Ask for a meeting and suggestions for your parking situations. If that gets you nowhere it doesn't hurt speaking to an attorney for suggestions. Good luck
