Towing Issues: Questionable Fire Lane, gov pubs, gated neighborhood

Question
Dear Richard,

I was recently towed in a gated neighborhood in California. I was in a fire lane. What constitutes a fire lane? The red is wearing off and there were no signs stating it was a fire lane, nor is there fire lane written anywhere on the red curb. There was no way for me to tell in the dark that I had parked in a fire lane.

Thank you!

Answer
Sorry to hear you got towed for a firelane violation. Below are the links to the towing rules and also the definition of a fire lane.

Sadly I hate to say it but Fire Lanes are problem child in the towing area as they are painted markings and they generally use regular paint, not paint like on roadway markings (which also wears off).
It sounds like it was legal but that they need to update and repaint the markings.
