Towing Issues: Illegal Tow visitor, dmv website, california dmv

Question
I had my car towed on a sunday quite recently. A Property manager towed my
car, he holds rights to the parking. However, a business company has the
rights(lease?) to park in a couple of parking spaces. Interestingly, the space
my car
was towed from was for the business company. Is there any help you can
offer
me for seeking retribution for my car tow? The event ocurred in San Diego,
California. Also, I was a visitor for one of the residents at the property and
there is spoken acknowledgement of visitors being allowed to park in the
designated spaces.

Answer
Well California has a lot of laws regarding removal of vehicles from private property. Check out the California DMV website and look at 22658 which is the section covering the removal.

Now that said, the way this sounds is very strange, with the property owner having parking spaces double rented or allowed..

I would check into this real good and it will most likely be the area which you might get some of the money back...

But the tow company was responding to a call to provide the services from the property manager.. A clear sign for parking spaces needs to be there, especially with the 2 people using the space.
