Towing Issues: Towing capacity, dodge ram 3500, electric brakes

Question
I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 auto trans with 150,000 miles, runs great.  Whats the towing capacity, I'd like to tow a 33' trailer.  Some climbing Colorado & Utah

Answer
You don't say what engine, what body, wheelbase, bed gears etc.

But the basic 3500 ram standard cab 4WD has over 9000 pound towing capacity.

You don't say what weight the trailer is (be sure to include anything you put INSIDE the trailer, best to weight it fully loaded) but chances are your truck was originally capable of towing just about anything up to that 9000 pound limit.

If going into mountains be sure to fully service the transmission and cooling system, and make sure the electric brakes are working and adjusted correctly.
