Towing Issues: towing a Jeep, jeep wrangler 4x4, jeep wrangler

I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4X4 with manual trans.  Can I safely pull it with a bumper mounted tow bar?  If so does the transfer case need to be in nuetral?

I would suggest you head over to a 4 x 4 board and check out some of those issues there...

In our "COMMERCIAL"towing business we do not allow jeeps to have any wheels on the ground as they are one of the hardest to get into neutral on the transfer case, or just plain can not be towed with tires on the ground..

But that vehicle does sound like it "COULD " be towed wheels down behind an RV...
