Towing Issues: repossed car at inpound, nassau county ny, repo company

Question
My car was repossed by the company I am financing it from. I paid the finance company in full for the repo and they inturn called the pound they have a contract with to release the car to me.What is the maximum amound a inpound can charge for storage? Is it in the New York State law that a inpound can charge the maximum amount of storage for two weeks and after that they have to lower their storage fees to $10-$15 per day of storage?I reside in Nassau county NY and I was never given a list or contract of fees being charged to me for storage only a receipt that I gave them the car keys and still have property in the car.

Answer
Well, I love it when people try to combine different kinds of towing rules and regulations.

First of all, repo towing, is not regulated in rates for towing and storage fees, like tows ordered by the police departments and from private property..

Repo fees are subject to what ever the company charges..  But basic storage fees start the day it gets there and ends the day it leaves...

Now it sounds like in your question that you did pay all the fees and then gave up the car.  Your property should be returned to you, check with the finance company and or the repo company if you did not get it....

Hope this helps, but its really a question where you have to work with the people involved.
