Towing Issues: car towed, can not get back, storage fees, towing company

Question
recently my brother had a car towed from his home, when he went to pick up the because the title was not in his name they would not release the car to him.  He then went to get the title in his name and the car needed to be inspected and they would no9t let him have the car inspected and told him it was going up for auction and that he could not bid on the car because the car was his??????  go figure!!!!  anyway we think this company is trying to keep the car because of it's value and we need help!!!

Answer
sounds like a catch 22 here...   Now I am not sure what the reasoning for the towing service to say you could not bid on it, but some people do that when its towed and they own a bunch of money for towing and storage... Cheaper way to get the vehicle back... BUT one thing to remember is that in many states, the towing and storage fees owed are able to be collected on by the towing company in various ways, either by collection agencies or suspension of drivers license..

There should be a way for the vehicle to be redeemed, and I would check into your local laws regarding this issue. Check with the police department and they might point you in the right direction for resolving this issue...

Hope this helps a bit, I know its not much info but best I can offer on what I was provided in the question.
