Towing Issues: 2007 Tundra Fifth Wheel Towing, fifth wheel towing, wheel toy

Question
I have seen several light fifth wheel toyhaulers which claim to be towable by 1/2 ton trucks.  My 2007 Tundra (4x4 double cab, 5.7L V8 with tow package) is a very good 1/2 ton truck in regards to towing, at least in regards to bumper pulls.  I haven't seen anything published by Toyota which describes the new Tundra's fifth wheel towing capability.  I have heard that it is possible to calculate the fifth wheel towing capabilities of your truck, but I haven't been able to find the equations for these calculations.  When I've asked the toy hauler manufacturers if my truck can tow their light fifth wheel, they respond with, "Sure no problem."  When I ask them for a more detailed answer as to what that is based upon, I never get any information back from them.  Can you describe the equations that I can use to calculate the fifth wheel towing capability for my 1/2 ton truck?  Even if my truck can tow their light fifth wheel toy hauler, I'd like to know how much margin it has and what assumptions they made when determining whether or not I could tow it.

Answer
From everything I have seen, a truck should be able to haul a bit more with a 5th wheel than with a bumper pull, because it puts the weight directly over the axle rather than at the end of the vehicle.

It all depends on how heavy the 5th wheel is, and the maximum load you will ever put on that trailer.

I have to believe that a truck this new would have a towing guide in every dealers showroom.  Visit a dealer and ask for the towing guide.  Also, the owners manual should detail towing options, capacity.
