Towing Issues: Towing question in Vancouver,Canada, vancouver bc canada, apartment manager

Question
Hi, Richard,

I am Scott in Vancouver,BC, Canada, I am so exciting to find this website for towing questions. my car was towed with valid parking permit at a apartment's parking lot for visitor. following is the story in detail, could you please help to find out if what they did (to tow my car) was correct or not? Thanks.

1. I parked my car at visitor's space with valid parking permit at apartment (middle building of Sheraton Hotel) in Downtown Vancouver on Thursday (02-Nov-06), Starting time was 11:00 PM (Thursday), then I left the parking lot at about 02:00 AM of Friday morning(03-Nov-06). parking time was about 3 hours. when I left, the parking permit was returned to my friend, he is residence of apartment.

2. At the daytime of Friday(03-Nov-06), I drove my car to Richmond to work, of course, my car was not at parking lot of apartment(middle building of Sheraton hotel). I have only one car.

3. On  Friday night(03-Nov-06), I went to visit my friend at the same building at about 18:00 PM(Friday), the valid parking permit was given to me by my friend, it was on the dashboard and visible from outside.

4. At 11:53 PM (Friday,03-Nov-06)), my car was towed by "Buster" towing company, when I contacted the apartment manager by phone, the leaving message told me he was off at the moment. then I had to call Taxi to go to Towing company to get my car back.

5. On Monday(06-Nov-06), one of my friends helped to contact the apartment manager at my office hour, I was told I could not park my car at the lot twice within 24 hours. I double checked the parking restriction, it only said, maximum parking limit is 24 hours, any car exceeding this limit will be towed, and the extended parking parking permit to be used if someone want to park over 24 hours. Per the manager said, if I park my car there, then take my friend out for shopping or for other reason, I will not be allowed to park inside again within 24 hours counting from my previous showing up time. that is to ridiculous I think.

6. Now I have the original ticket form "Buster" and it was already paid by me since I have to get the car to work on Monday before talking to someone there.

Best Regards,

Scott

Answer
well hate to say it but it sounds like a legal tow.  They can not keep track of in and out vehicles usually and so it gets rules like this set up.

You can not go to the movie theater at 1pm and then leave and return of another show later. This is an easy explanation ...

Sorry but I have a feeling this is one of those life experiences we all have to learn..
