Towing Issues: Door problems after tow co. unlocked, slim jims, tow company

Question
I locked my keys in car today. Tow company came and opened it through the passenger side (which I read is the right door to use). When I was driving I noticed the "door open" symbol was on in the car. Got home, checked all doors. The passenger door doesn't lock or even seem to close correctly because the light is still on and when I tried to set the alarm it didn't work. It's a 2002 Ford Escape. Was wondering if there was anything I could try or just wait and call tow co. in morning. Thank you.

Answer
OK   well depending on what kind of tool that the towing company uses.  Some of them still use slim jims or other style tools which go into the door insides.

But then there are also  the long reach tools which are ones where they slightly wedge the door open and insert a long rod (like a coat hanger)..
The cars now are not as friendly and forgiving as they are using lighter metal.  Its possible that if a long reach tool was used and the door wedged open that it might be out a bit on adjustment.  Sometimes its as easy as just opening the door and pushing back on the door jamb to readjust it. Sometimes it takes a bit more.

Call the tow company in the morning and talk to them about it.  They usually will help you with the problem, but remember at times they are not always helpful..
