Towing Issues: Toy 4 Runner, salt lake city utah, hook ups

I have a 2006 Toyota 4 Runner V8 4.7L.  Thinking of using it to tow a boat weighing about 4500lbs to 5000 lbs from New Orleans, LA to Salt Lake City, Utah.  Would you recommend it? Would it destroy or shorten the life of my engine?

Any extra load is going to cause more wear on the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes...  A one time move is not going to destroy anything.  

Make sure the trailer brakes are fully functional and double check all of your trailer hook-ups (ball tight? ballmount pin in place? coupler latched properly? safety chains? lights work?...) And have a good time.
