Towing Issues: 06 TDI for towing a light vehicle, vw rabbit, diesel car

Hello,
I may have to do some state to state traveling soon and would like to tow a VW Rabbit Truck.  I own a 2006 Turbo Diesel Jetta with an automatic Tiptronic 6 speed transmission.  The engine produces about 100hp and 170tq (1800rpms).  I know the manual does not suggest towing, but i would like to think that this diesel car can handle it.  I'm not real familiar with tow setups, can you suggest something that will work for me?  I believe the VW Rabbit truck weighs under 2200 pounds.  I plan on attaching a tow bar to the front of the truck.  I may put some extra boxes etc in the bed of the truck while towing if it's not too much.

If anyone tells you that this can be done, please forward me their names and addresses.  I would like to make sure that they lose any credentials they may have.  

This is completely unsafe and illegal in every state.
