Towing Issues: Some general questions about having car towed..., insurance papers, insurance card

Question
I live in Oahu, Hawaii. My brother just left for a 2 week vacation in Nevada and I drove his car home from the airport. Unfortunatly I parked his car in the wrong space at his apartment complex and i'm assuming the vehicle has been towed.

My questions are:

- Who do I contact to find out where the vehicle is located?

- How can I retrieve the vehicle if it's not in my name? I don't know how i'd go about getting a notarized letter with my brother in Nevada, but might they release it to me since we share the same last name?

- I have the title with me, and the registeration is in the vehicle, however I don't any insurance papers with me here. Will tow companies simply move the car somewhere?

Thank you

Answer
well the police should be able to tell you where the vehicle is if it was towed not stolen.

notorized letters can be done at any bank to help you get the authority to get the vehicle out.

Not sure about the insurance card issue though as there should be proof of insurance in the vehicle .

They might tow it back somewhere for you if they can establish the rights to have possession of the vehicle. That is what the notorized letter should do ..

Hope this helps, if not when you find out where the vehicle is talk to the towing company manager or owner and see what they say to do .
they should have lots of information to offer.
