Towing Issues: Towing, dodge ram truck, penske truck

Question
What would be the best way to tow my 2000 Ford Ranger Automatic Rear wheel drive truck?  We are moving to Texas and are renting a 26ft Penske truck. If we can tow it, should we use the Penske, or our Dodge Ram Truck?

Thank you!

Answer
I would use the Penske truck (assuming you don't overload it).  As it was designed for the extra load.  If I'm not mistaken Penske also rents tow dollies when you rent their trucks.  I would go the dolly route and disconnect the driveshaft of the Ranger at the diff.  DON'T FORGET TO TIE UP THE END OF THE DRIVESHAFT ~REALLY~ WELL!

There is no point even trying to flat tow the Ranger as you are only going to tow it once and done correctly the cost would be in the thousands.

Good luck,
