Towing Issues: Can my Truck handle it?, head gasket, decent condition

Hi I have a 2000 Ford Ranger thats 2 wheel drive,  it has around 100,000 miles on it.  I am moving across state about 5 1/2 hrs or roughly 450 miles some of which is uphill driving.  Could my Ranger pull a trailer that far without doing to much damage to the truck?

Answer
It depends entirely on how much you plan to pull and what the condition of the truck.  If you keep it fairly light (under 2000 lbs.) and take your time, a truck in decent condition will have no problem with the trip.  On the other hand, if you already have the truck loaded down, there are holes in the exhaust, the head gasket is blown and you want to pull 10,000 lbs, I would call the cops on you.
