Towing Issues: Can I get my tools, ect. from my vehicle when already towed?, livlihood, towing co

Question
Our car broke down and I pushed it to a

place of safety and thought I could possibly leave it

for a few days. Well, needless to say, it was towed

and my livelihood was in the back of the car.  TOOLS

FOR MY TRADE!  Besides the car itself, most important

thing to us is SURVIVAL!

We have had tough times before and we will

conquer and prevailed again but, WE NEED SOME SORT OF

A BREAK!

Will we be able to get our belongings from

the car that was towed to a Towing Co. without paying

too much?  Nill to nothing for honesty speaking!  If we

could get the car out, we would but,  LIVLIHOOD AND

SURVIVAL IS IN THE CAR!

Thank you for your time and any response is greatly APPRECIATED!

Answer
You should contact the Impounding agency, Highway patrol
police or who ever authorized the impound. In most states
you have access to your vehicle during regular business
hours to retrive valuables. The towing co will want you to
pay the impound fees but in most cases you should be able
to get your stuff without paying. The law enforcement should
have the information for you. The towing company is highly
regulated and must go by the rules in order to keep the
highly prized contracts with law enforcement. You might have
to pay a gate fee. You could tell them that you intend to
pick the car up in a couple of days or even a week but that
you need your stuff now. You must have proof that YOU own
the car. You will need the title, or the registration in
YOUR name in order to access the car. I hope this information will help you, towing companies can be real dicks about this stuff, try to stay calm don't let them get
you mad, just walk away if they won't let you in and contact
the police in this case the cops are on your side. Cops can
walk in and get your stuff for you. Good luck and let me
know how it turns out. please don't forget to rate me,
thanks..........kurt
