Toyota Repair: Toyota Transmission shutting off engine when in gear, toyota sequoia, pep boys

Question
Hello, I have a Toyota Sequoia 2003, 150K miles. Last Sunday I made a quick stop at a light and my car my car turned off. I was able to turn it on right away but when I put it gear it shuts off. Neutral is OK, but D, R, 1, or 2 will turn the engine off. I have enough trans fluid and my transmission was just flushed at the dealer at 145K miles. Never had any problems or signs that the transmission might be going bad. Question1: Does the transmission generate codes to know what went bad in it? Questions2: What can be done to tell if the solenoid went bad or possibly the torque converter?

Answer
Yes the transmission has self diagnostic abilities so the first thing would be to check for codes, both engine and transmission codes are stored in the ECM, you can have the codes retrieved at most autop arts stores, sutozone, pep boys, o'reilly etc at no charge . once you have code numbers please reply back.
