Toyota Repair: 2000 Toyota Camry Solara radiator/ac fans wont turn on, toyota camry solara, toyota camry

Question
Ted,

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry Solara V6 that has recently started to overheat.  It has not reached the point that it boils over yet, but it has gotten to the point a few times that once we turn the engine off, it takes a long time to be able to restart it.  While driving normally, it seems to run okay, but once we stop or idle for a while, it shoots up into the red.  I turn the heat on high and once we start driving again, the temp goes back down.  Upon inspection, I see that neither of the radiator or a/c fans turns on, even with the a/c on.  It seems to have plenty of fluid.  I suspect it has something to do with the fans.  How can I get the fans to come on or check to see what the issue is?

Michael

Answer
The  cooling fan has a teperature switch that controls fan operation, it is usually located on the bottom of the radiator and has a connector with two wires going to it, with the key on disconnecting this switch should make the fans run constantly, if so replace this switch.
