Toyota Repair: 1998 Corolla misfire on cylinder #3, now it wont start, toyota corolla ve, digit code number

Question
I have a 1998 Toyota Corolla VE 1.8l engine. It has 182,000 miles on it was running but some times it would start to miss if I gave it gas while it was in gear. I could rev it while in neutral  and most of the time it would not miss.

It started getting to where it wouldn't start unless I tapped the gas pedal a bit to get it to start. Now after sitting about one and a 1/2 months it will not start. Its getting spark but no fuel.

I have checked all the fuses, they are good. I am hoping its a fuel pump relay, but I don't have a repair manual to locate the relay.

What do you think it could be, please give details on the location of the part that you think is the problem.

Answer
The most likely cause is the fuel pump, there is a check connector under the hood, it has a plastic cover on it that says "diagnostic" on it and is about 1"x2", open the cover, there is a diagram inside for the terminals, first turn the key on then put a short jumper wire between the terminals TE1 and E1, the check engine light will start blinking, if there is a trouble code the light will blink a two digit code number. a code 24 would be two blinks followed by four and so on, let me know if there are any codes, next find the terminals FP and B+ put the jumper between them, this makes the fuel pump run bypassing all relays and the computer, if the engine still doen't run it's probably the fuel pump.
