Question
I have a 2005 Highlander in exc. condition. Took for oil change and 5 mins after I left the VSC and check engine lights came on. Took it back and they have no idea. I know they checked air filter and I suggested hose may be lose. They said no and checked on some device that read codes? They got the lights to go out, but could something during oil change have caused this? And should car be ok if lights stay off?

Answer
I think they fixed it but didn't tell you the truth, I've seen this many times after  a shop changes the oil the check engine light comes on because when they check the air filter they pull the top of the air filter cover up, this can cause the evap system hose to come off and you get a check engine light which in turn makes the VSC light turn on as well.
