Toyota Repair: Electrical problems with Toyota Corolla CE, 2005 toyota corolla, blown fuses

Question
I own a 2005 Toyota Corolla CE. When I was driving it the other night, the car surged and all electric instruments stopped working. The engine was still running, so I pulled over to see what was wrong. Everything was off (headlights, windshield wipers, dashboard lights and gauges, stereo, climate control, turn signals, and brake lights). The only electrical items working is the dome light and the Check Engine light. When I started the engine back up, it was running smoothly. However, I was unable to shift the car out of park. I tested the acceleration on the engine, and that was working fine. So, basically, I can start the car, the engine runs, but none of the instruments work and I can't move the car at all. What could be wrong with it? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Most likely there are a couple of blown fuses for some reason, there are fuses both under the hood in the fuse panel near the battery and there are more inside just under the left side of the dash, all fuses should be checked but the most important are the GAUGE,STOP,EFI  and any that have the word IGN. These are on the inside except the EFI which is under the hood. All fuses are marked in the cover of the fuse panel
