Toyota Repair: AC, hole in the air, maintenace

Question
Ted,

I have a 2005 Sienna with 120,000 miles. I recently took the car in for scheduled maintenace and also requested the refresher service for the AC.  The AC always worked great and I never had any problems.  That same day after it was serviced the AC would cycle off and no longer cool.  It has now stopped cooling altogether.  Is it possible that they did something to cause this problem when they performed the refresher service?
Thanks.
George

Answer
Yes, obviously something happened during this service, by refresher service I assume that they injected some cleaning foam into the air duct to clean the evaporator core, in most cases this requires drilling a hole in the air duct housing, it's possible that they drilled a hole into the evaporator which will cause all the freon to leak out in a short time. You should go back there and ask them if this is the procedure they use and have them check for this.
