Toyota Repair: 89 4Runner Washer Pump, autoparts store, electrical connection

Question

Pumps I'm trying to replace the pump but they don't make the part anymore. I bought an after market one but the electrical connection is different.

My questions are:
1. How do I know which wire is the plus and which is the minus? One is Blue and the other Blue with a stripe.

2. What is the best way to secure the connection of the wire to the pump? Electrical Tape? I was going to cut it off the old pump and attach it to the new one.

Any helps is greatly appreciated!

The solid blue wire comes directly from the fuse so it would be considered the positive, the other wire goes to the switch which provides ground for the pump to work, if you get them mixed up the pump will just run backwards. You can get a couple of crimp on connectors from an autoparts store to connect to the new pump.
