Toyota Repair: fuel filler, gas gauge, tank fuel

Question
Went to put gas in my 2004 camry yesterday and it stopped before the tank was full.  I did notice that the little round thing is missing that normally would flip back after inserting the nozzle.  Something has dropped in the tank.  Fuel filler hose? Does the old one need to be fished out?  Also, my gas gauge isn't working properly as of yesterday.  Everything was just fine last week when I filled and up now I am more than frustrated.  I am hopeful that this is an inexpensive fix.  This was my first Toyota purchase almost 5 years ago but I've never had anything like this happen on American made cars that I've had for 9 years.  Can I fix this myself?  Is this something that can be purchased from a junk yard per say or off of the internet?

Thanks for your expert advise.  Frustrated in DFW.

Answer
You don't have to buy anything, look down the filler pipe with a flashlight, if the object is visible you may be able to reach it, there are inexpensive long "grabbing tools" availabe at the autoparts store. I not visible then the filler tube has to be removed to get it out, the inlet pipr for the tank also should be checked for any foreign objects.
