Toyota Repair: seatbelt, silicone spray, toyota owners

Question
Hi Tim,

I have a problem with my seatbelts retracting or rolling back up when unbuckled.  They still lock when jerked or pulled fast, they just don't like to roll up.  They will or do roll back up if you feed it back slowly.  I know a few other Toyota owners who have the same problem with there seatbelts.
Is there a simply fix like some silicone spray on the spring, or does the whole belt assemble have to be replaced?

Thank You,

Rick

Answer
Rick,
This is very common for Toyotas.
The retractor is worn, you can try spraying WD-40
in there it some times helps. Check the belt before you
strap it on so the lubricant doesn't get on your clothes.

We usually unbolt and replace them.
