Toyota Repair: 2004 Toyota Sienna timing belt, chain wrench, auto parts store

Question
I have an LE version front wheel drive with automatic transmission. I just read your answer to what is recommended to also be replaced when having your timing belt changed at 90,000 miles. I do as much as I can myself and would like to do this job also. I have access to alldata and have printed out the info from there. I have several questions. I see there are some special tools used to remove the crankshaft bolt. Would I need to purchase these tools or could they be rented from an auto parts store for instance. I would also like to know how to remove and install the camshaft and crankshaft seals? Do I need any special tools for removing or installing them? In the diagram of the job it shows a belt tensioner with a rod coming out of it. Do I need a press to put this back in? I don't understand the arrangement from reading it. I am hoping to be ready with what I need before I start. Is 90000 miles a don't go past it kind of thing where the odds increase quickly for breakdown trouble? This is my first time trying this site so please let me know if I have asked for too much.

Answer
Unless there is access to an air wrench the pulley can be removed by using a long breaker bar and a socket, the pulley can be kept from turning by holding it with a chain wrench, the special tool is not needed, most tool rental places should have the chain wrench and the long breaker bar. The chain wrench can also be used to hold the cam gears so that the pulley bolts can be removed, pry the seals out and use a seal installing tool to install or emove the top part of the front camshaft housing. The tensioner is hydraulic self adjusting, it can be removed and compressed in a vice, note the small hole in the shaft, when compressed, this hole will line up with the housing, then insert a steel pin to keep the tensioner from expanding until the belt is reinstalled then pull the pin to release the tensioner.
