Toyota Repair: Replace clutch with rear main seal?, clutch disc, oil contamination

Question
Hi,

I have a 1989 Toyota Supra, manual transmission, non-turbo that has approx 80,000 miles (never replaced the clutch).  It has developed an oil leak and now the rear main seal needs replacing.  I understand that the transmission needs to be removed to access the seal.  The auto shop is recommending that I also replace the clutch since they will be removing it anyway and the clutch has 80,000 miles on it.  I have no problems with the clutch right now and I only drive the car about 2000 miles per year (I work at home). I drive very gently and not in "stop and go" traffic.  My feeling is "if it ain't broke - don't fix it" and there are other things I could do with $400 besides buy a new clutch (I'm fine with fixing the oil leak though).  What do you think about this?  How long can a clutch last with gentle driving?

Answer
The clutch can be inspected after the transmission is removed, if any oil got on to the clutch disc then it would need to be replaced, you may get by with just replacing the disc, if there is no oil contamination and the lining on the disk is not worn near the rivets then you can probably re-use it.
