Toyota Repair: engine fault code PO 441, charcoal canister, home thanks

Hello Ted,My 99 Corolla is showing fault code PO 441.This is something to do with Evap.Emission control.Sounds like something with the charcoal cannister.Please give me an idea where to check and/or is this not something I can repair at home.thanks Mark

The two most common problems for this code is that there is either a leak in the charcoal canister or there is a hose off at the canister or under the hood or the evap purge vsv is malfunctioning, the vsv is not expensive, the canister is, the evap purge vsv is located under the hood near the air cleaner and has large vacuum hoses connected to it, one of the hoses will have a green valve attached to it with a cover on it, try replacing the purgr vsv, clear the code by disconnecting the battery or removing the efi fuse for a few seconds then see if the light stays off.
