I am thinking about purchasing my dads toyota. When we first crank it, it smokes and than will stop. It doesn't always smoke but most of the time it does. Once it sits for a few minutes it will stop. w

Don't you know to never buy a car from a relative or friend :), anyway, if the smoke is blue it is most likely caused by leaking valve stem seals, to repair this is kind of expensive, you are looking at about a $1,200 repair to replace the seals, I would recommend that you have a toyota dealer diagnose the problem to be sure that's what it is, I can only tell you what the most common problem is for this condition, in any case tell your dad to have this fixed before you buy it.
