Toyota Repair: 2002 Toyota Camry, 2002 toyota camry, metal particles

Question
When I am driving, my transmission slips out of gear. When I let off the accelerator, it goes back into gear. I used a scanner to retrieve the codes and this is what I got: P0765 Solenoid D stuck open or closed and P0770 Solenoid E stuck open or closed. Is this something that can be repaired at home  or do I need to take it to the transmission shop? Any answers area greatly appreciated!

Answer
These codes do indicate that the solenoids are not operating, the 770 code is the torque converter lock up solenoid code, it has a malfunction, most of the time the solenoids are not the cause but rather the result of a more serious problem, if the transmission is starting to have a problem then there may be metal particles that can clog the very small solenoid passages and trigger a trouble code. I would recommend removing the transmission oil pan first to check if there are any metal particles or clutch material in the bottom of the transmission oil pan. If there is then the transmission is in the process of complete failure and will have to be replaced.
