Toyota Repair: Ignition Switch Lockup, factory warranty, toyota dealer

Question
Dear Mr. Ritter:
I am a handicapped driver who uses his left foot for both gas and brake. I currently own a 2006 Avalon. When I stop the car and put the car in park, I remove my foot from the brake and push on the emergency brake with my left foot.
Sometimes when I go to restart the car, I am unable to turn the key in the ignition or move the shift lever. If I go outside the car and push the back of the car with my body I can then turn the key. I may need to do this once or twice before I can turn the key and start the car. Most of the time this has happened in my garage on a level surface.
I would appreciate any suggestion that you might have to solve this problem. I had the same problem with my 1996 Avalon.

Thanks, George M. Romig

Answer
I'm not real sure what may be causing this but since it is a 2006 model whatever the malfunction may be it should still be covered under the factory warranty so I would consult the toyota dealer first, they are in a much better position to find the problem since they can phisycally inspect the car.
