Toyota Repair: trouble codes 300 and 302, revs check, toyota corolla

Question
I have a 1999 Toyota Corolla 5 speed (1.8L) with 173K miles.  Car jerks between shifting gears and improves during high revs.  Check engine light is on and trouble codes PO 300 and PO 302 came up.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
The p0300 code just means that there is an engine misfire, the 302 code is specific to the #2 cylinder, it either has a bad spark plug or a bad igniter coil, each cylinder has it's own igniter coil connected directly to the spark plug, remove the black plastic cover to get to them, this is the most common problem, in some cases, but less common a bad fuel injector or low engine compression could be the cause but I would try just replacing the spark plugs to see if it helps if not replace the coil next.
