Toyota Repair: hatch release 1998 corolla hatch, corolla hatch, hatch release

Question
the hatch release of the 98 corolla does not work it seems to have disengaged from the release switch/pullup under the drivers front seat . How do you access it to reconnect/ or what is the best way to approach this , thankyou for your assistance

Remove the seat and cut the carpet open, in most cases the cable came off the release lever, if it's still connected the problem is in the back and the cable may have come off the latch but you should still be able to open it with the key in either case.
