Toyota Repair: Serpentine Belt and knocking, toyota matrix xrs, sway bar links

Question
Ted - I recently purchased a 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS (93k miles) and have had a couple noises that are bothering me and I would appreciate any advice you have before I bite the bullet and try to find out through a shop.  The serpentine belt squeaks, but only occasionally - never on startup from sitting for a while and only sometimes after a short time of driving.  The noise is most noticeable at idle, but I can hear it rev up as I accelerate.  Do I need to replace my serpentine belt or just get some belt dressing?  Also there is a knocking that I can hear in the front left area of the car when the car is rocking at slow speeds or going over small bumps (i.e. going from first to second gear slowly as it rocks forward or small bumps in the road)  It sounds like something is loose and knocking.  Happens while traveling straight and not on turning so I don't think it is my CV boots.  Any help or troubleshooting would be appreciated.  Thanks - Andrew

Answer
Toyota has issued a service bulletin regarding the serpentine belt noise(TSB-EG021-07), the belt and tensioner should be replaced. Check for loose sway bar links on the front end or possibly the strut upper mounts could be the cause, so the solution may be to just have the struts and upper mounts replaced.
